Jio Dhan Dhana Dhan offer is still up; Have you recharged your Jio number? Reliance Jio has started disconnecting users who haven’t recharged their number for Prime yet. The disconnection is being conducted in a phased manner and Jio is already started sending messages to the customers in this regard.

The process of discontinuation is not going to happen all at once. While some users have already received the message about the disconnection, for other users who have not recharged it will happen over the next couple of days. So, if you haven’t yet received the message, you should recharge your number now.

At the time of the announcement of Dhan Dhana Dhan offer, Jio had stated that users need to subscribe to Jio Prime membership plan and buy either Rs 309/Rs 509 recharge by April 15 to “to avoid degradation and/or discontinuation of services”.

What are the Options now

Once you go to the Jio.com website, you can see the focus is on Jio Prime plans only. The Rs 309 and Rs 509 only apply for prepaid users.

The Rs 309 recharge gets you 84GB day with 1GB FUP per day unlimited calls, 100 SMS per day, complimentary access to Jio app,  and a total validity of 84 days. After this period, the next recharge of Rs 309 will get you 1GB per day, and will be valid for 28 days.

Then there’s the Rs 509 recharge, which has 168 GB data for 84 days with 2GB FUP per day. Rest of it is same as the Rs 309 recharge.

Finally the cheapest plan is the Rs 149 one, which gives you 2GB data for 28 days, 300 SMS, and unlimited voice calls. There’s also a non-Prime version of this plan which has only 1GB data for the 28 day period.

What Competitors are doing

The fierce competition is going on in Telecom sector among major players Jio, Airtel, Vodafone, MTNL, BSNL and Idea which too came up with counter-offers.

Vodafone, for instance, launched a Rs 352-data pack that offers 1 GB data for 56 days. This plan, however, is introductory and once the 56-day period is over, users will have to subscribe the offer every 28 days.

Airtel launched a data pack that will last for 70 days at Rs 399. This new plan will be available for all current subscribers who will get get 1GB a day for the entire period. The users can also avail unlimited voice calling throughout the 70-day tenure. A smaller pack of Rs 299 will offer similar data benefits, but with unlimited calling only to other Airtel numbers.

MTNL has officially announced a new plan wherein users can avail up to 2GB of data per day along with unlimited calls within MTNL network at a price of Rs 319. The telecom operator’s latest plan remains valid for 28 days, after which the users will be required to top up their respective plans.

Idea too has launched a Rs 297-recharge pack that gives 1GB of data per day for 70 days. But users will get just 300 minutes of Idea-to-Idea calls per day or 1,200 minutes per week. They will be charged 30 paisa per minute once they exhaust the calling limit.

To counter threat from Reliance Jio, state-run telecom firm BSNL  launched a new plan that offers 2 GB of 3G data per day and unlimited calling for Rs. 339. This plan is with validity of 28 days.

So, what to do now

The process of discontinuation is not going to happen all at once. So, if you are willing to continue your Jio service, you should recharge your number now. Otherwise, the competitors are offering good plans too. You can choose any one of them as per your requirements.
