The Principal shall, on completion of the service of an articled clerk, forthwith issue a certificate in respect of this service, rendered under in the form approved by council and forward a copy thereof, duly signed by both the principal and the articled clerk to the Secretary.
In the event of discontinuance or termination of the service of an articled clerk before the expiry of the full period of service, the principal shall issue to the articled clerk, a certificate in the form approved by the council and forward with forthwith a copy thereof duly signed by the principal and the articled clerk, to the Secretary. A printed copy of such form shall be obtained on request from the Secretary and shall bear the stamp of the Institute and date of its issue and shall be valid only for sixty days thereafter.
Where the principal is unable to obtain the signatures of articled clerk within thirty days of completion of the service, he may forward the certificate to the Secretary, duly signed by himself, without the requisite signatures of the articled clerk, within forty five days of the completion of the service and send two copies thereof the last known address of the articled clerk by registered post.
The articled clerk shall, upon receipt of the certificate referred to in sub-regulation (3), sign one copy thereof and forward the same to the Secretary forthwith.

Who is required to submit Certificate of Service
CA Final candidates and Direct Entry candidates of Intermediate (IPC), through graduate/post graduate route are required to scan and upload their Certificate of Service, duly signed by their Principal/s on the above mentioned portal.
Unless the Certificate of Service is uploaded, candidates will not be able to complete submission of the examination form on-line.
Is Certificate of Service required for Students who have already completed their Articleship?
Students who have already completed their Articleship training can get their Certificate of Service signed by their Principal or any other Practicing Chartered Accountant.
Students undergoing last 6 Months of Articleship training are only required to submit the Certificate of Service duly attested by their Principal only.
